Wooden Window Blinds
It’s my second day off work today and I am enjoying spending more time with my baby. It has been snowing here in the valley for two days. To me it’s still too early to get some snow. I think it was in the month of November last year when we got the first snow. I wish I could get some more sleep during the day but our bedroom doesn’t have good blinds to make it darker for me to be able to fall asleep. I told hubby to get new blinds in the bedroom, maybe wooden blinds will do much better. I found a place that offers 50% off on all kinds of window blinds at Window Blinds Direct which I believe is a great deal. If you need new blinds for your home check it out at Window Blinds Direct.

Car seats, out of cars, a hazard for U.S. kid
Just learn this news today which is very much important for the safety of my baby. Never do this with your baby.
"Parents and caregivers who place car seats on beds, kitchen counters and other places outside the car injured 43,000 U.S. children over five years, researchers reported on Monday.
More than 3,400 of the children were injured badly enough to require hospitalization, the researchers told a meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
"Many families learn the importance of strapping an infant car seat into a vehicle, but they do not learn about the dangers of using infant car seats as carriers or placing them on countertops or beds," Dr. Shital Parikh of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center told the meeting.
Most of the children were injured on the head, but they also broke leg and arm bones, he said.
"When parents or caregivers place the infant car seat on top of a table or elevated surface, the infant can wiggle and end up toppling off out of the seat onto the floor, which can lead to severe injuries," Parikh said in a statement.
"Another accident that can happen is the turning over of the car seat on to a soft surface, which can lead to suffocation."
Parikh used a Consumer Products Safety Commission database to make his calculations."

Got my Green Card
Just got home from work an hour ago. I asked hubby if I have any mail and he said I got one from California. I was expecting my Permanent Resident Card to come anytime since I already got a letter from the US Immigration that my application for Removing of Condition as a Permanent Resident has been approved. When I saw the envelop it was from the Immigration. I opened it immediately and yes! it was indeed my Green Card. Finally, got my 10 year Green Card. I'm glad that I was approved without any interview. Hubby congratulated me. My next step will be applying for naturalization to be a citizen next year three months before my 3 years of permanent residency here in the US.

Furniture
It’s been a month since we moved in to a new home. We liked it here very much because everything is accessible. My mom-in-law has moved in with us and we loved to have her in the family. She is checking on modern furniture she could put in her bedroom. There is a good place to shop online for modern or even Contemporary furniture that suits everyone’s style and taste when it comes to furniture needs. If you are looking for furniture of any kind that’s a real deal for your bedroom, living room, or your kitchen, Modern Furniture Warehouse has them all.
Work
Just got home from work as a CNA at a nursing home facility. It's my second day today and it went good. It's not easy but it's worth and rewarding to help take care of the residents. I'm on the second shift from 2 pm til 10 at night which I think works best for me. This is my first job ever here in the US and I can't wait to get my pay check. It feels so good to be able to help with hubby in our financial needs.

Halloween Deals
It’s the last day of the month of September. Halloween will be coming pretty soon. Hubby and I are planning to get Tyler a Halloween costume. The other week, we were looking for different costumes that would fit Tyler but we couldn’t find one plus they cost a lot. So, I am thinking about shopping online because I know a lot of these online stores will be offering discounts for Halloween costumes and I might be able to find great Halloween deals from among these online stores. There are some websites that offer coupon codes for these online stores where you can get discounts like 10% to 50% off. A great savings to avail for sure.

Three months old
Tyler is now 3 months and 1 week old, I couldn't beleive how fast the day goes by and how fast a baby can grow. My little one has been doing great. At 3 months he can make different sounds now. He goos and gurgles more and more. I have been teaching him to say mama and dada and I have been talking to him. It's really fun when he starts talking back to me even though the words he utters they are not recognizable yet. I loved to tickle him when I change his clothes because he would laugh out loud. I have been teaching him to hold his bottle when I am feeding him. He started holding his bottle although he can't control his hands yet. Last night, while I was feeding him I showed hubby how he held his bottle and he was very surprised at Tyler holding his bottle.

Another car
I’m so excited to start working, I will be driving 17 miles everyday to go to work and get back home. Since my step daughter has been using my car to go to her work, we might be needing another car at some point. She might end up not having any car to if I drove my car or hubby can take me to work to drop me off and pick me up but it’s going to a big hassle for him especially if my schedule will be on the evening or night shift. If we get another car, we would need to get car insurance for it which is another expenses. Hubby is checking for car insurance quotes online to check for the cheapest car insurance we could get then.
I got the job!
Got great news today! I just received a call from Angela who interviewed me the other day for the CNA job I applied for and told me that they already did the background check for me and it was all good. She said I’m ready to go and asked me when I would like to start for my training. I told her, I would like to start on Monday. She said I could start my training on the evening shift from 2 pm til 10 pm and I said that it’s fine with me. She also said I could come in at 1:00 in the afternoon to sign some papers before I begin my training. Geeze! I’m so excited but nervous at the same time. This will be my first job here in the U.S.
It's Friday!
Another Friday and another weekend, days are coming by so fast. Tyler is growing fast too! I could not believe that he will be 3 months old on the 23rd of this month. I have observed a lot of changes on Tyler within the last couple of months. Physically, he is growing up for sure. He's been more alert during the day, he only take short naps and he sleeps more during the night. Last night he slept at around 7 p.m. and woke up at around 4 in the morning. Last night was the longest time he slept. He went back to sleep at 4:45 a.m. after I fed him, then woke up again at 6:15. He always wake up in the morning with a happy mood. He smiles, laughs and coo especially when I start talking to him. He is exploring his voice, he makes sounds as if he wants to talk to me or his dad. Sometimes I would tickle him and he would laugh so loud. Oh, it makes my day when I see him laugh!

Job application
I was checking the internet earlier looking for a job opening here in the valley. I was looking for CNA job since I have my license for a year now and I wanted to have the experience which is really needed for my license to be renewed next year. Luckily, I found one job being posted through our county’s workforce center website. Since, I don’t have my car because my step daughter has been using it I told hubby to take me to the nursing home facility which is about 17 miles from home, so I could apply and fill out the application for the said job. I went there and fill out the application and was interviewed right away. The lady who interviewed me was so nice and I liked the way she interviewed me because it was just a casual conversation which helped me felt at ease. She told me to go ahead and take my urine sample for drug test, I did it right there in the facility. The result was negative then she told me they will do background check. She said when everything is done, they will call me back. I think I got the job, I hope so. I’m excited to start my first job. While I was inside the facility hubby was parked outside waiting for me. I tried to call his phone to tell him that it will take me for awhile to come out from the facility but he didn’t answer. I thought his phone died on him but thought it shouldn’t be because he had his iphone car charger and he can charge it. Then it crossed my mind that he might have forgotten his iphone at home. He always forget his phone that I have to remind him about it every time we go out but forgot to remind him this time.
Hubby has been using his iphone for more than 6 months now and he liked it a lot. I’m thinking of having one in the future when my Nokia celphone won’t function anymore. When he bought his iphone he also bought an iphone case for it. He asked me if I would want a new celphone during that time but I said no because my celphone is still working good. Hmmm, I was just too shy and was hesitant to tell him I want a new one like his iphone. Ha,ha,…. Well if my celphone die on me and won’t be any good I will tell him I would like an iphone too and would like also to get iphone accessories with it. I already know where to find those iphone accessories and it's at mobilefun.co.uk where everything about mobile phones are found in this place.

Oriental Store
We just got home from the Oriental store and bought the main stuffs I need for cooking like Silver Swan soy sauce, Datu Puti vinegar, and two bags of Mung Beans and red beans. I also bought 2 cans of sardines and wheat noodles (misua). Too bad the Oriental store we have here in Grand Junction is not that big and doesn't carry as much Filipino products. Though we have Filipino store also but it's not as big either and the owner sold the business to another Filipina but until now I haven't gone to where it is located now since the store has moved to another location.

I need new return address labels
My brother’s wife has just delivered her second baby girl last June. Her baby is about Tyler’s age since they are only couple of weeks a part. She said she needs a “snuggly” to use to help her carry her baby while doing chores in the house and since I have two “snuggly” I’m thinking about sending the other one to her. I already packed the stuff and ready to put the address on the package when I remember that I won’t be able to use our return address labels since we have a new home address now. Well, I guess I just have to write down our address on the package for now. I know there is a good place to order those return address labels like 123prints.com where thousands of designs are available to choose from and you can personalize your design too at very affordable price.

Moving with ease
We have finally settled in our new home and have been here for 11 days. It took us about couple of months to find the right place to move. Almost everyday hubby and I go out and drive around the valley to check for houses for rent that is close by the old home we had lived since hubby’s two younger children goes to school near that area. We are so glad that finally we found the right place we were looking for. It’s just approximately 6 miles from where we used to live and we are accessible to everywhere because we are in the downtown area now. Moving is really stressful, I am just happy that we moved close by and we didn’t have to move to another state which we thought we might. It would have been more stressful and more costly for sure. Although moving to another state might still happen in the future if hubby gets a good paying job and be able to buy another house since the house we left was foreclosed. Yes, it was foreclosed because we couldn’t afford to pay the monthly mortgage anymore after hubby’s working hours were cut off in January and eventually lost the job in March. Hubby is one of the million Americans who lost his job and we are one of those families who have lost home because of the recession. Well, that’s life and it’s all good for now. I know there are a lot of people who have moved from another place because of what’s going on with our economy.
Speaking of moving, I know of a site that offers a lot of information and guide when it comes to moving. It’s called moveme.com where you can find a comprehensive information, resources and guide to help you move into your new home with ease. Colds
I started snezzing and my throat got sore last monday and the next day it got worst. I took some medicine for colds and sore throat and I'm glad that it got better and I didn't get cough. Now, Tyler has the colds and I think he has sore throat too. He is good at dealing with it too. I thought he will have a hard time last night but he slept good even if has stuffy nose. He was fussy earlier but he finally fall asleep. It's hard when babies get sick. I start checking the internet about how to treat baby's colds and here's what I found out.
Since most children can't master nose blowing until about age 4, here are a few ways to help ease your baby's congestion.
• Tip your baby's head back and squeeze over-the-counter saline (salt water) drops into his nostrils to loosen up the mucus. Then suction out the liquid and mucus a few minutes later with a rubber bulb syringe. If your baby is having trouble nursing with a stuffy nose, try this tactic about 15 minutes before a feeding. He'll then be able to breathe and suck at the same time. Apply petroleum jelly to the outside of your baby's nostrils to reduce irritation. (Don't use nasal sprays on your baby unless his doctor says it's okay. They may work temporarily but can cause a rebound effect in which the congestion gets worse with continued use.)
• Use a humidifier or a cool-mist vaporizer to moisten the air in your baby's room. Or take your baby into the bathroom with you, turn on the hot water, close the door, and sit in the steamy room for about 15 minutes. A warm bath can accomplish the same thing.
• Elevate the head of your baby's mattress by placing a couple of towels between the head of the mattress and the crib springs. Sleeping at a slight incline may help relieve his postnasal drip, but don't overdo it. If your baby is a restless sleeper, he could end up flipping around so his feet are higher than his head, defeating the purpose of the elevation. (Never use pillows to prop up your baby as they could suffocate him. And don't put anything under the legs of the crib because that could make it unstable.) You might even consider letting your baby snooze in his car seat in a semi-upright position.

How should you treat baby's cold?
No medicine will make a virus go away faster, but you can help your baby feel better and prevent the infection from getting worse by making sure he gets plenty of rest and liquids. For babies under 4 months, that means breast milk or formula. At 4 months your baby can also have a little water, and at 6 months he can start drinking juices.Since most children can't master nose blowing until about age 4, here are a few ways to help ease your baby's congestion.

New place
We have just moved to a new place that's why I haven't updated my blog for several days. We have been busy packing and moving our things since Monday. We like the place we live right now. We are still in the same city and state, we just moved less than 10 miles away from the old place. I'm glad that our internet connection was installed earlier. Things are doing well, though we are still busy unpacking and organizing all of our stuffs in the house.

Tyler's Tummy time
Since most infants sleep on their backs "Tummy Time" helps get babies off their backs. It provides a break for the occipital area or the back of their heads, and gives babies a chance to strengthen their neck muscles to prepare them for crawling. It also helps them get ready to push up, roll over, sit up and eventually stand. So when I read this article about "Tummy Time". I started Tyler's tummy time today for the first time. We put a blanket on the floor and put laid Tyler on his belly. he was their laying for a couple of minutes without complaining. He started lifting up his head and pushed his legs. He was about to fuss but then hubby gave him the pacifier and stayed on his belly for about 5 minutes until he fell asleep. I told hubby to pick him up since he shouldn't be sleeping while on his tummy time. Hubby teased me to just let Tyler sleep but I told him nope because he might do it again and ruin the purpose of tummy time. So, I picked him up and put him in his crib before his tummy time ends up with sleeping time.
Clarks Shoes at Walking on a Cloud
It’s hard to find shoes that will fit my style and size since I have small feet especially when I came here in the U.S. When hubby and I go out and shop for shoes it takes time for us to look around the stores to be able to get the shoes I like. It’s the same way with hubby, he always have a hard time finding the shoes that he likes and that will fit on him comfortably. I have been looking and searching the internet where I could find the best place to find good shoes for me and hubby until I found walkingonacloud.com where they sell a wide selection of shoes for men and women such as Timberland, which is the brand of my rubber shoes that I have been wearing and I really liked them. Clarks Shoes is also one of the top brands that you can buy through walkingonacloud.com. TV Shows Online for Free
Watch TV Shows Online with Spreety. I didn’t know about this until I came across with this site. Hubby and I haven’t watched TV for more than a year since we disconnected our cable. Spreety is a legal site to watch TV online, it has a lot of TV programs to choose from. The best thing about it is it’s free to watch and there is no need to download. I’m checking out their Action & Adventure TV page and try to watch it on my computer.
Tyler is Two months old
It has been two months since Tyler was born. I can't believe it has been that long. His doing well and is growing fast. He weighs 11.5 lbs already and he can smile and coo when I talk to him. Here is some information I read from babycenter.com on how the baby is growing at two months.
"Your baby can tell the difference between familiar voices and other sounds, and he's becoming a better listener. He can also show you that he's in tune with his environment. Notice how he looks to see where certain noises are coming from.
An ongoing conversation (although seemingly one-sided) can help your baby develop his sense of place. He may even watch your mouth as you talk, fascinated by how it all works. You'll be amazed by his ability to communicate with a growing repertory of coos (musical, vowel-like sounds), smiles, and unique cries to express his different needs."

Fussy time
I have noticed lately that Tyler has his fussy time early in the evening around 5 to 7 p.m. He would cry and cry even though we try to meet his needs like changing his diaper, feeding, and holding him. I tried the best I can to make him calm but sometimes it will take awhile before he finally calms down. Then after his fussy time, he would fall asleep and will be sleeping for 3 to 4 hours at night. He already established his sleeping time, he usually sleeps around 9 or 10 in the evening then wakes up around12 or 1 a.m. then I would feed him and he would fall back to sleep around 2 or 3 a.m then wakes up again at 5 or 6 in the morning. He is pretty good at night and I hope that he will continue to be that way.

Pregnancy at 34 weeks
It feels like getting closer to my due date has gotten faster and faster. Althoughsometimes it seems like forever waiting for the big day to see my little one. I will be 34 weeks tomorrow and I feel more and more uncomfortable each passing day. My OB visit last Monday went good, I told my OB that I had cramps Saturday night and Sunday morning with diarrhea and I also told him that I thought I had some contractions too. Even though everything looked fine with my blood pressure, weight, baby's heart rate, he went ahead and did fetal monitoring to see if I am really having contractions. Fetal monitor was hooked around my tummy, the baby's heart rate was normal all the time. Baby was moving a lot too during the test and I only have one contraction during the entire session when the fetal monitor was hooked on me for about 30 minutes. My OB said there's nothing to worry about it which gave me and hubby a great relief.
So here's how the baby is growing at 34 Weeks :
"Baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making his rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If preterm labor happens, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies."
If you notice itchy red bumps or welts on your belly and possibly your thighs and buttocks as well, you may have a condition called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP for short). Up to one percent of pregnant women develop PUPPP, which is harmless but can be quite uncomfortable. See your practitioner so she can make sure it's not a more serious problem, provide treatment to make you more comfortable, and refer you to a dermatologist if necessary. Also be sure to call her if you feel intense itchiness all over your body, even if you don't have a rash. It could signal a liver problem."

How's life changing:
"By this week, fatigue has probably set in again, though maybe not with the same coma-like intensity of your first trimester. Your tiredness is perfectly understandable, given the physical strain you're under and the restless nights of frequent pee breaks and tossing and turning, while trying to get comfortable. Now's the time to slow down and save up your energy for labor day (and beyond). If you've been sitting or lying down for a long time, don't jump up too quickly. Blood can pool in your feet and legs, causing a temporary drop in your blood pressure when you get up that can make you feel dizzy.

Cramps
I been having cramps since yesterday and it's on and off. Last night I wasn't able to sleep good because of the cramps I felt in my abdomen and my tummy, then I started having diarrhea as well that was probably the reason why I have those cramps. I read my notes about childbirth and it said that diarrhea or soft stool are one of the signs of labor and these are nature's way of making room for childbirth. Hmmm, I hope I won't have early labor because I'm only 33 weeks and 1 day as of this time and I still have less than 7 weeks to wait til my due date.
It's getting hotter....
It’s getting warmer and hotter during the day as summer is on it’s way. Here in the Valley when it’s summer it’s really, really hot since it’s so dry and the humidity is so low. So, when you are out in the sun, it feels like you are in the oven. You hardly sweat because it’s so dry. Especially when you first get in the car that has been parked for an hour or two. The good thing is the air conditioner in hubby’s Toyota Tundra is working very well. If your vehicle’s air conditioner don’t work you might as well fix it before you get toast in the summer heat. You can find a best deal and great discount in auto ac parts like a/c compressor at Discount AC Parts. Whether you are looking for Ford ac compressor, BMW or Mercedes AC compressor Discount AC Parts has them all. Just visit their website at www.discountacparts.com for all your auto ac needs.
Bank Rates
If you are looking for the best place to invest or save your money and get the best rates out of it in the future, check Monitor Bank Rates and find the best rates you can get. Maybe hubby should look into this since he is thinking about moving his 401 contribution into a CD since he lost his job couple of months ago. Hopefully, CD Rates won’t be so low so he could get a higher interest from it.

Pregnancy at 33 Weeks
How' the baby growing:
This week the baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood. How life's changing:
At 33 weeks I feel more and more aches and pains in my body. Just this couple of days my wrist and my little pinky hurts especially when I'm sleeping at night. My hands are starting to swell up a little bit too. I checked babycenter.com about all of these changes that I have been feeling and here's what I found out."As your baby fills out even more of your belly, lots of things might start to change: Whereas before you were sashaying, you may find yourself waddling. Finding an easy position to sit in — let alone sleep — is becoming more of a challenge. And bumping into chairs and counters is par for the course.
You may be feeling some achiness and even numbness in your fingers, wrists, and hands. Like many other tissues in your body, those in your wrist can retain fluid, which can increase pressure in the carpal tunnel, a bony canal in your wrist. Nerves that run through this "tunnel" may end up pinched, creating numbness; tingling, shooting or burning pain; or a dull ache. Try wearing a splint to stabilize your wrist or propping your arm up with a pillow when you sleep. If your work requires repetitive hand movements (at a keyboard or on an assembly line, for instance), remember to stretch your hands when you take breaks — which should be frequently."

Effective Reading Intervention Program
Teaching reading to students can be a challenging tasks for teachers especially teaching those struggling readers. I remember when I tutored reading to a second grader who had reading problem, boy that was not easy. Today, with the advances of technology teachers educators and parents can get additional sources to help students develop their reading skills. Read 108 is America’s premier reading intervention program which is proven to help develop reading skills to students from elementary to high school. It’s an instructional software which provides intensive, differentiated skills practice to motivate struggling readers. Read 108 is proven to be effective for all students with delayed or failed readers, students with learning disabilities, special education students and English language learners.
Mother's Day surprises from hubby
Hubby surprised me yesterday when he came from the door and received the cake that was delivered by some members in the church. He came to me and showed me the cake that said "Happy Mother's Day" on it. That was a great surprised to me because he never mentioned about it that he ordered a cake from the Young Women of the church the other Sunday. These Young Women were raising funds for their girl's camp this summer by selling cakes for Mother's day. I thought that was really sweet hubby did for me. I thought that was it for the surprises until this evening hubby handed me a Mother's Day card and then after I read the card he handed me a jewelry box with a very nice ring in it. When I saw it I told him "no, not again" ha,ha coz he always give me jewelry as a gift every special occasion. That is just how hubby is, he is so sweet, thoughtful and loving.
Thank you so much for the surprises hon, I Love You!

Mosquito bit me
I was laying on the couch earlier and noticed that something itch in my arm and I checked on it and it looked like a mosquito bite. I have seen some mosquito inside our house already since the weather had started warming up. By the way, have you heard about Mosquito Magnet? This is definitely the best solution to get rid of mosquitoes from your property. Mosquitoes are so disgusting and carries a lot of diseases like the West Nile Virus. Visit their website and find out more about Mosquito Magnet.
Braxton Hicks
That's what I felt early this morning, I woke up at past 1 am to pee but wasn't able to go back to sleep because I felt some pressures in my lower abdomen. Hubby called the doctor to find out what we needed to do since we didn't really know if there was something to be concerned about since I'm still 8 weeks far before my due date. The doctor said that what I felt was Braxton Hicks contractions which is just normal and all I just need to do is drink plenty of fluids and take a bed rest. So, that's what I did the whole day. I miss church and our plan to visit mom in Montrose to celebrate mother's day was canceled.

Pregnancy Pathways
Hubby already called St. Mary's Hospital and was able to set appointment for "Pregnancy Pathways" which I mentioned in my previous post. We will be having a hospital tour at St. Mary's on the 27th of this month which I will also sign up for the pre-registration so everything will be ready when it is time to deliver my little one. The receptionist said that when we get there to register all I have to show is my driver's license and health insurance card. I can't believe how the days just go by so fast. I only have 8 weeks to wait and my little one will be in my arms.

Hubby and I had another OB appointment today for my regular prenatal check up. The nurse checked my weight, I am at 117.8 lbs which showed that I'm gaining more weight. The nurse hand me a paper entitled "Pregnancy Pathways" at St. Mary's Hospital. Pregnancy Pathways is a one hour, individualized session with a registered nurse from the Maternal-Child unit. Pregnancy at 29 Weeks
Seems like the days are going by so fast yet feels like so slow at times when I get excited about having my baby in July. I'm at 29 weeks of my pregnancy and my tummy is getting bigger and feeling tighter and tighter each day. Things are going well so far. I'm going to have another prenatal this Monday and hoping that everything will be well.
So, how's the baby growing at 29 Weeks? here's a quick information I got from babycenter.com
"Baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day".

Pain in my tummy
I have this pain in the right side of my tummy which feels like it is going to rip open. It also feels like something is slowly slicing my side. I guess this is just a normal feeling specially for a growing tummy since I am at my 28 weeks of pregnancy. I searched online for a similar question asked by other pregnant women and most of them say that it's just a normal feeling and it is due to the stretching of the uterus to give more space for the growing baby inside the tummy.
Great site for mom's to be like me
I am now at 28 weeks and 4 days of my pregnancy. I can’t believe how time flies by so fast. There are only less than 12 weeks to wait until my due date which is on July 4th. He is going to be a 4th of July baby if he comes right in time. Right now my tummy is really getting bigger and bigger and it’s getting more and more uncomfortable each day.
Hubby and I have already started buying some stuffs for the baby like crib, stroller, car seat and baby carrier. I still need to review and go over with my baby checklist and make sure that I have everything I need by the time the baby comes. I still need to find out what other stuffs I should need for the baby and maybe start making a newborn checklist to make sure everything is ready and packed them in a separate bag to take to the hospital when the time comes. I am getting more and more excited as my due date is getting nearer and nearer.
This will be my first baby and a first time mom as well. I have been getting a lot of information with regards to pregnancy, birth and parenting from different websites. Just lately I found another informative site like Tiny Tot Lot which talks a lot about new born babies especially designed for moms to get informed about any topics related to babies. This is really a very informative website Tiny Tot Lot has a lot of informative topics and articles from new born checklist or baby checklist, creating space for your baby like the baby nursery, things you need for your baby’s bedding, keeping your baby healthy, and a lot more articles and tips for moms. It is surely a great source of information online. If you are a first time mom like me and is expecting soon? Do you want to find out if your baby checklist is already complete or still don’t know what else to add on it? Planning to set up a baby shower and don’t know how to do it? Well, Tiny Tot Lot has all the ideas and information you can get so check it out at www.tinytotlot.com and find out more details. What’s more neat about this site is that it also leads you or recommends you to another websites that will help you find the things you need. What a great source isn’t it?

Pregnancy at 28 Weeks
How the baby's growing:
By this week, baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. He blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through his mother's womb. He is also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
How life's changing:
If you are at 28 weeks pregnant like me here are some more information on how life is changing.
You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester.
At this point, you'll likely visit your doctor or midwife every two weeks. Then, at 36 weeks, you'll switch to weekly visits. Depending on your risk factors, your practitioner may recommend repeating blood tests for HIV and syphilis now, as well as doing cultures for chlamydia and gonorrhea, to be certain of your status before delivery. Also, if your glucose screening test result was high and you haven't yet had follow-up testing, you'll soon be given the 3-hour glucose tolerance test. And if the blood work done at your first prenatal visit showed that you're Rh negative, you'll get an injection of Rh immunoglobulin to prevent your body from developing antibodies that could attack your baby's blood. (If your baby is Rh positive, you'll receive another shot of Rh immunoglobulin after you give birth.)
Around this time, some women feel an unpleasant "creepy-crawly" sensation in their lower legs and an irresistible urge to move them while trying to relax or sleep. If this sensation is at least temporarily relieved when you move, you may have what's known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). No one knows for sure what causes RLS, but it's relatively common among expectant mothers. Try stretching or massaging your legs, and cut down on caffeine, which can make the symptoms worse. Ask your caregiver if you should try iron supplements, which can sometimes relieve RLS.

Thank God my bloog sugar is fine
Just had my prenatal check up this morning. I did the Glucose challenge screening test for gestational diabetes. My OB gave me a small bottle of "Glucola" a sweet flavored drink like soda during my last visit and then told me to drink it this morning 30 minutes before my appointment. After an hour they draw blood sample from my finger and checked it to find out my sugar level. Thank God my blood sugar was fine it was at 116 mg/dl which means that I don't have gestational diabetes and hoping that it will be normal during my entire pregnancy. I also had my urine checked and it was ok, the nurse checked my weight and I am 114.8 lbs, checked my blood pressure and said it was normal and monitored the baby's heartbeat. My OB measured my tummy too and after everything is done he said that everything is prefectly fine. My OB recommended me to go to the laboratory for a another blood tests which are CBC and Antibody. I'm thankful to God that everything went well in today's doctor visit. I'm hoping that the blood test results will also be fine.

Pregnancy at 26 Weeks
I'm at 26 weeks pregnant today and yesterday started my 6 mos pregnancy. Everything seems doing pretty good with my pregnancy and my baby. He is growing more actively and he moves a lot inside my tummy. Hubby can feel him more and more when he touch tummy. Here's another info from babycenter.com on how the baby is growing at 26 weeks.
How the baby's growing:
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.Thursday, March 19, 2009

Shopping for baby stuff
Yesterday, Mom came over to visit us. We were glad to see her again this week. It's always been great to have her around and visit with her. She is such an awesome mom (in-law). We went shopping around to different stores in town to start looking for baby stuffs like stroller, car seat and carrier. We were looking for the one's that has a good cushion to keep the baby more comfortable but we couldn't find the good one that we liked. We didn't buy any yet because we were just checking and looking for a good quality and style with a reasonable price too. Anyways, it's still too early to buy baby stuffs but it's really fun and exciting to shop and look around for baby stuffs.

Pregnancy at 24 Weeks
How the baby's growing:
The baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, bu t that will start to change soon. How Life is Chaging:
"In the past few weeks, the top of your uterus has risen above your belly button and is now about the size of a soccer ball.
Most women have a glucose screening test (also called a glucose challenge test or GCT) between now and 28 weeks. This test checks for gestational diabetes, a pregnancy-related high-blood-sugar condition. Untreated diabetes increases your risk of having a difficult vaginal delivery or needing a cesarean section because it causes your baby to grow too large, especially in his upper body. It also raises your baby's odds for other complications like low blood sugar right after birth. A positive result on your GCT doesn't mean you have gestational diabetes, but it does mean that you'll need to take the glucose tolerance test (GTT) to find out for sure."

Just had my prenatal check up yesterday and I'm glad that everything went well. My OB was glad that I'm gaining weight, I'm 108.2 lbs at this time. My blood pressure was normal as well as the baby's heartbeat. My OB measure my tummy and he said it's perfectly normal. So, hubby and I were glad that everything is ok. My next appointment will be on April 6 and my OB said the next time we come back I will do a glucose screening. He already gave me the glucola drink that I need to drink 30 minutes before my OB appointment then after an hour they will draw blood from me to check my sugar level. How the baby's growing:
Baby's sense of movement is well developed by now, he can feel his mommy dance when radio is turned on and sway to the music. He is now more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), I already see him squirm underneath my clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing for breathing and the sounds that the baby's increasingly kken ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises such as dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner - probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb. How life is changing:
Ankles and feet may start to swell a bit in the coming weeks or months, especially at the end of the day or during the heat of summer. Sluggish circulation in the legs — coupled with changes in your blood chemistry that may cause some water retention — may result in swelling, also known as edema. Body will get rid of the extra fluid after the baby is born, which is why you'll pee frequently and sweat a lot for a few days after delivery. In the meantime, it is best lie on your left side or put your feet up when you can, stretch out your legs when you sit, and avoid sitting — or standing — in one place for long periods. Also, try to exercise regularly to increase circulation, and wear support stockings (put them on first thing in the morning) and roomy, comfortable shoes. You may be tempted to skimp on liquids to combat swelling, but you need to drink plenty of water because staying hydrated actually helps prevent fluid retention. While a certain amount of edema in your lower extremities is normal during pregnancy, excessive swelling may be a sign of a serious condition called preeclampsia. Be sure to call your midwife or doctor if you have severe or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles, more than slight swelling of your hands, swelling in your face, or puffiness around your eyes.

Bridology
It has been more than two years that hubby and I got married. Time flies by so fast, I could still remember how hubby prepared and planned things for our wedding before I came here in the US and of course with the help of my sister in law who was in Florida too made our wedding day a successful one. I was still in the Philippines when hubby made preparations for our wedding, from selecting my wedding gown, veil, tiara, shoes, wedding rings to the wedding reception. All throughout we plan it together online. Thank God for all the information and wedding guide sites that were available over the internet we were able to get all the things we needed for the wedding day and by the time I came here in the US everything were ready.
If you are looking for a wedding guide site check Bridology which provides a lot of information on wedding gifts, wedding favors, bridal jewelry, fashion, and other wedding ideas. It’s a great source of finding articles with a wider range of topics such as wedding tips, dresses, budgeting and other wedding related topics. If you are a bride to be or groom to be Bridology will be a perfect site to check as you are preparing and planning for your big day.

Heartburn and Pregnancy
Most likely. Many women experience heartburn for the first time during pregnancy — and though it's common and generally harmless, it can be quite uncomfortable.
Heartburn (also called acid indigestion or acid reflux) is a burning sensation that often extends from the bottom of the breastbone to the lower throat. It's caused by some of the hormonal and physical changes in your body.
During pregnancy, the placenta produces the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus. This hormone also relaxes the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach, allowing gastric acids to seep back up, which causes that unpleasant burning sensation.
Progesterone also slows down the wavelike contractions of your esophagus and intestines, making digestion sluggish. Later in pregnancy, your growing baby crowds your abdominal cavity, pushing the stomach acids back up into the esophagus.
Many women start experiencing heartburn and other gastrointestinal discomforts in the second half of pregnancy. Unfortunately, it usually comes and goes until your baby is born.
What to do About It :
Though you may not be able to eliminate heartburn entirely, you can take steps to minimize your discomfort:
• Avoid food and beverages that cause you gastrointestinal distress. The usual suspects are carbonated drinks; alcohol (which you should avoid anyway during pregnancy); caffeine; chocolate; acidic foods like citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, mustard, and vinegar; processed meats; mint products; and spicy, highly seasoned, fried, or fatty foods.
• Don't eat big meals. Instead, eat several small meals throughout the day. Take your time eating and chew thoroughly.
• Avoid drinking large quantities of fluids during meals — you don't want to distend your stomach. (It's important to drink eight to ten glasses of water daily during pregnancy, but sip it between meals.)
• Try chewing gum after eating. Chewing gum stimulates your salivary glands, and saliva can help neutralize acid.
• Don't eat close to bedtime. Give yourself two to three hours to digest before you lie down.
• Sleep propped up with several pillows or a wedge. Elevating your upper body will help keep your stomach acids where they belong and will aid your digestion.
• Gain a sensible amount of weight, and stay within the guidelines your healthcare provider suggests.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid any tightness around your waist and tummy.
• Bend at the knees instead of at the waist.
• Don't smoke — in addition to contributing to a host of serious health problems, smoking boosts stomach acidity. (Ideally, smoking is a habit you should break before getting pregnant. If you're still smoking and are having trouble quitting, ask your caregiver for a referral to a smoking-cessation program.)
• An over-the-counter antacid that contains magnesium or calcium may ease discomfort, but check with your prenatal caregiver before taking one, because some brands contain aluminum or aspirin or are high in sodium.
If these measures don't help, talk to your caregiver about prescription heartburn medications that are safe during pregnancy.

Pregnancy at 22 Weeks and 4 days
I am at 22 weeks and 4 days of my pregnancy. Everything is doing good and I am feeling good as well. I'm getting used to the discomforts that I always feel in my sciatic nerve. My tummy is getting bigger and bigger now. At 22 weeks, my baby is moving a lot and hubby can feel his movements more often too when he touch my tummy. Couple of days ago one of the exciting things that I have experienced was when I saw my tummy moved as I felt my baby move around inside my tummy. That was the first time I saw my little boy squirmed underneath my clothes when he moved. Hubby saw it too and got excited. My little boy is surely getting stronger and stronger each day coz his kicks and punches are getting harder and harder.
Here's a quick info from babycenter.com on what is going on at 22 weeks of pregnancy:
"At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, the baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily".

Kabar knives
I am checking for knives online and search for ka bar knives because this is the kind of knife that hubby would like to have and I was surprised to find out that the price is much cheaper at www.thompsonoutdoors.com compared to the stores that hubby and I went when we were looking for ka bar knives. I guess this site is the best one to check out for buying ka bar knives and other outdoor knives.
Big tummy
"Big tummy" this is what hubby told me while I am sitting here in front of my laptop as he was sitting on the couch. My tummy I guess looks so big for a 21 weeks and 4 days of pregnancy, this is what hubby told me too. I still have 4 months to go and I wonder how huge my tummy is going to be by that time.

Pregnancy at 20 Weeks
It's amazing how time flies by so fast and how my tummy is getting bigger so quick. I'm at 20 weeks and 4 days of pregnancy right now and it feels good to know that I have gone this far and everything looks fine. My tummy is sticking out more and more and it gets itchy too. I bet my little boy will have a lot of hair because me and hubby have both thick hair and has natural curls too.
Here's some info on how the baby is growing at 20 weeks;
At 20 weeks he should weigh about 10 1/2 ounces and around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel - about the length of a banana. ( No wonder I could feel him more and more moving around to get some more space).
He's swallowing more these days - agood practice for his degistive system. He's also producing meconium a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

How much water should you drink while pregnant?
This is what the expert's answer to the question.
You should drink at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses per day (48 to 64 fluid ounces) plus one 8-ounce cup for each hour of light activity. Juices can contribute to your fluid intake, but keep in mind that they can also provide a lot of extra calories. Caffeinated beverages, such as coffee, colas, and teas don't count as part of your fluid intake because they're diuretics — they make you urinate more so you actually lose water.
Water plays many vital roles in a healthy pregnancy. Think of water as your body's transportation system — it carries nutrients through your blood to the baby. Water also helps prevent bladder infections, which are common during pregnancy. If you drink enough water, your urine will stay diluted, reducing your risk of infection.
Water can also stop constipation and help prevent hemorrhoids. Although it may seem counterintuitive, the more water you drink during pregnancy, the less water your body will retain. Also, drinking enough water prevents dehydration. This is especially important in the third trimester when dehydration can actually cause contractions that can trigger preterm labor.

Is it safe to be around computers all day when pregnant?
Since I became pregnant I'm always concern about doing things that might hurt my baby. I even ask myself if it's safe to be around computers because I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop. So, I check what experts say about this matter through babycenter.com and below is the expert's answer to this question.
Lewis Holmes, professor of pediatrics, Harvard Medical School; chief of Genetics & Teratology Unit, MassGeneral Hospital for Children, Boston
"Yes. Because computers are ubiquitous, researchers have spent millions of dollars studying whether sitting in front of one causes birth defects or miscarriage — and determined that there's no evidence that it does."
Pain in my lower right abdomen
I'm starting to have this slight pain in my lower right abdomen. If I get up from laying down or from sitting it hurts. I don't know what causes it, it's probably just squeezing my side since my baby is growing and tummy is getting bigger too. Hopefully, this won't be something to worry about.

Calling the Philippines the cheaper way
Calling my parents to the Philippines usually cost me 10 to 12 dollars just for an hour to talk to them since I am using direct call from our home phone. I always call them once a month but lately I decided to cut back on my spending in international calls and thought of just using international calling cards to be able to save. If I use Philippine calling cards it will only cost me half of what I usually spend since it would only cost 10 cents a minute with no connection fee and I could buy these cards for as low as five dollars. That’s really a great deal. I can still keep in touch with my loved ones in the Philippines and spend less.
It's a baby boy!
We just got back from my OB appointment for an ultrasound. Yes, it's a baby boy! Hubby already figured it out from the beginning that it's gonna be a baby boy and with mama's cursing tongue it surely came true. Although I was hoping for a baby girl but I am very happy to find out that it's a boy and to me the gender doesn't really matter as long as the baby is healthy and normal. My OB did a full anatomy of our baby from head to toe and everything looked perfectly fine and normal. he checked the heart, the spine, kidneys, the face, lips, hands, arms, legs and feet and everything and it's all good. It didn't take long to find out the baby's gender because the baby was in a good position to show off what he got. Ha,ha,... Hubby and I are so excited. The next thing is figure out what the baby's name will be.

Pregnancy at 19 Weeks
How the baby's growing:
The baby's sensory development is exploding! Her/his brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she/he may be able to hear mother's voice now.The baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Baby's arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her/his body now. Kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her/his scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Pregnancy at 18 weeks
I am at 18 weeks of my pregnancy today. I have been doing good so far except for the colds that I still have. Here's some information I got from babycenter.com on how the baby is growing at 18 weeks.
Head to rump, baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and weighs almost 7 ounces. Baby's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that I start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. Blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If it's a baby girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If it's a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them during an ultrasound.

I need more maternity clothes
As weeks pass by, my tummy is getting bigger and bigger also. I have gained 10 lbs during my first trimester and still gaining more and more. My jeans and pants have gotten tighter and I couldn’t wear them anymore. Even the pants that are too loose when I bought them now they became snug and tight on my belly. I really need more maternity clothes now that my belly is getting bigger. I have been checking for maternity clothes online and try to see what clothes are nice to wear during pregnancy. I still like wearing jeans and pants and came across with Belly Dance Maternity an online store that sells Bella Band which gave me a great idea that I could still use my favorite jeans and pants even if those were snug on the waist. I could just unbutton the waist line of my old jeans and pants and put on the band on top on it. Belly Dance Maternity also sells a wide variety of maternity clothes such as blouses, jeans, pants and many more which are made my Maternal America. Thinking about how to get back to your pre-pregnancy belly after birth? I’m sure that a lot of women would want to have their belly go back the way it should be before they got pregnant. I, myself have thought about this and wonder if my flat belly would ever come back after my pregnancy. Well, check how Belly Bandit help you get your belly back to it’s normal size before you got pregnant. For all your maternity clothing needs just visit Belly Dance Maternity.
First time...
What a great experience I had this morning when my hand felt my baby's movement for the very first time. I was laying in bed trying to get a nap but couldn't sleep at all. So I just lay on my side and felt tiny movements in my belly which I have been feeling quite often since the start of my second trimester. I put my hand on my lower abdomen hoping that I could feel it with my hand and surely I did. It felt so good to feel my baby moving inside my tummy. I told hubby about it and he got excited. I know he is looking forward to feel our baby's movements too because every night he always touch my tummy but have never felt baby's movement yet.

Pregnancy at 17 Weeks
I am at 17 weeks and 4 days of my pregnancy right now. So far things are going well except for some pains that I feel in my sciatic nerve on my left side and some other discomforts. I'm just glad that I didn't go through with bad morning sickness. I surely feel that my tummy is getting bigger and is now showing more and more and I feel the baby's tiny movement more often. My next OB-GYN appointment will be on Feb 9th. We will be able to know the gender of my baby during that doctor's visit. Hubby and I are getting more excited.
Here's a bit of information from babycenter.com at how the baby is growing at 17 weeks of pregnancy. "The baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. The baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop."

The baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop."

Excellent pet care website
I have always been passionate when it comes to animals especially cats and dogs. When I was young we always have a pet cat in the house but only started having a pet dog when I was in high school and that was back in the Philippines where I grew up. When I came here in the U.S. I become even more passionate with animals. Hubby had a pet dog named Bandit a Golden Retriever and Newfoundland mix and pet cat named Tiger an orange tabby . When I arrive here and married my husband I fell so much in love with these adorable creatures that I made them both brats.
I am always amaze at how Americans spoil their pets and how you can find a lot of pet clinics and pet stores that offers products and services for all your pet care needs. Even in the internet there’s a lot of online store and websites that will help you find the things you need and even give you a lot of information with regards to taking care of your pets. Petwave.com is one of these websites and even it is the first Pet Care website that combines a comprehensive pet health library that is based on today’s veterinary care standards. If you are a pet owner who wants to get an easy access on information about taking care of your pets especially dogs and cats and other related matters regarding pet health concerns check petwave.com. Indeed, it is an excellent source of information for your pet’s health.

I think, I felt my baby kicked
While I am sitting right before my laptop browsing the net and hopping blogs. I suddenly felt a quick movement on my left tummy which kinda surprised me. I think my baby just stretched her/his legs. Though I can't really tell if it's my baby kicking or just something else because this is my first pregnancy at second trimester. Tomorrow will be my 14 weeks, hubby just took another photo of my tummy earlier.

keeping warm and comfy
Wearing socks and long sleeves shirt all the time has been part of my outfit since I came here in the US. Even when I sleep I never take off my socks and I don’t think I would be able to sleep without my socks on. Now that it’s winter time tights and leggings are additional clothing I wear and I love wearing them because they keep me warm and comfy all the time. I think tights and leggings are also comfortable to wear during pregnancy instead of wearing jeans. I used to wear jeans most of the time but now since my tummy is getting bigger and bigger and my jeans are getting snug I prefer wearing those stretchable and soft type of cloth like those tights and leggings so I’m planning to buy more of those that I could wear during my entire pregnancy. I keep on checking online where I could find best deals for these kind of items and found a huge selection of stylish and comfortable leg wear at Hue.com and their prices are affordable too plus they offer free gift with every $50.00 on all products you purchase from them. Isn’t that nice? Who wouldn’t like free stuff? Hue also sells intimate wear like sleep wear, sleep sets, underwear and many more. So check it out and find out more.
